Dear Friend, I wish sharing with you experience, understanding, and consciousness of such vital life category: friendship. In my account I rely entirely on my lived experience.
My first genuine lesson in "friendship" came during my first bankruptcy. When I, simple guy from small settlement from poor working family, achieved wealth and fame as I then believed, around me existed many good "friends." Each birthday celebration gathered no fewer than hundred people: entrepreneurs, businessmen, military figures. All, raising glasses, pronounced very "sincere" saccharine toasts: you are my friend…blah-blah-blah, you are my brother…blah-blah-blah… You know how it happens.
Yet when I went bankrupt, fell from fame's pedestal into black pit of poverty, slander, shame, suddenly I awoke alone in vacuum, in emptiness. My phone suddenly went silent. Friends and brothers vanished. Here I truly understood friendship's price. Napoleon stated: "When you climb upward, nobody extends hand, but when you fall downward, everyone considers it duty pushing you further down."
I will tell honestly: bankruptcy pain, money loss, fate's injustice pain was hundred times less than betrayal, ingratitude, slander pain. Any insignificant person, any moral dwarf, intellectual pygmy always stands taller than fallen hero. On subconscious level, on primal intuitive level, small, gray, mediocre people always hate talent. Remember how much denunciation and slander was written about great people and geniuses like Korolev, Stanislavski, Makarenko, Pokryshkin, Tarasov, Tupolev. Gray mediocrity always was and will be talent's secret enemy, genius's enemy, magnanimity's enemy. Yet God with them. We will not judge them. I do not wish spending precious time on this. Great planetary historical business awaits us ahead.

Let us examine such business and social structures as banks, corporations, ministries, scientific institutes. All structurally resemble each other greatly. For example, let us examine firm, but assured same processes occur in any large organization. Let us imagine very promising, talented department director who obviously surpasses company president. Research how president will behave in this situation. Obviously, he will not rejoice in such competition. Only in anecdote or humorous story could he genuinely rejoice, invite young talent to his office saying: "Dear Friend, here are office keys, safe keys—I joyfully and voluntarily surrender my chair to you. Today my driver will take you home in personal car, your salary from today increases five times. I long lobbied for you before shareholders. Thank God they heard my request. From today you will lead our collective to new heights, and I, believe me, will happily accept salary reduction, ride trolleybus home, and apply all my strength being your best assistant. Because you are more talented, hardworking, noble than me." Ha-ha-ha…
Agree, this provokes laughter. Only idiots think this. Life's reality is simpler, more primitive, harsher. Spotting competition on distant horizon, any political, business, scientific, absolutely any leader in any country, any corporation will begin prematurely shooting down competition. But once holiday arrives and entire "friendly" collective gathers, people like empty speaking heads, like sycophants from sycophants, again and again speak about friendship, loyalty, brotherhood, respect, gratitude. If you think all these people are deceivers, scoundrels, sycophants, nobodies—you will be mistaken.
Paradoxically, system, environment, "matrix" makes people thus. I have right asserting and praising people's best qualities despite their weakness, because I was betrayed thousand times, robbed thousand times, slandered thousand times and continue being slandered. Despite this, I assert that people entering healthy, intelligent environment manifest their best qualities—respect, gratitude, loyalty, kindness.
The Power of Environment: How Systems Shape Behavior
Someone will laugh loudly now saying: "I know-know, at Nuremberg Trial!" For those unaware, after Nazi Germany's defeat, in Nuremberg city over executioners, war criminals from Hitler's circle, trial occurred entering history as Nuremberg Trial. All criminals unanimously claimed: "I executed Hitler's orders!" You justly might think: "Who wants hanging? Obviously this is excuse!" And…you will be wrong.
I will tell interesting scientific experiment. Scientists decided checking leader and environment's role in life. For this they invented original experiment. They created torture-like room with chair in center with thick, frightening electrical wires approaching it. In volunteer group they conducted random drawing—who would sit in chair, who would manage electric shock intensity dial. In chair sat actor, naturally. At control panel sat subject. Beside subject sat experiment director setting simple task: "Here are questions. Ask person in chair, if he does not answer—deliver electric shock. Cause pain."
Only 21% of subjects abandoned experiment decisively. 79% executed experimenters' commands, who convinced them: "Increase voltage—this benefits them." Actor screamed, writhed in pain (pretended), while subjects increasingly increased electrical power. Sometimes power reached 450 Watts. Reference point: in our outlets we have 220!
Notice: if ordinary scientific director convinced people committing such terrible acts—what then about Hitlers, Napoleons, ministries, corporations? This experiment remains undiscussed.
To completely convince you of enormous environment, value system, leadership importance, I provide another example. My favorite pedagogical genius Anton Makarenko during hungry, terrible revolutionary time when human life meant nothing and 4.5 million homeless children appeared on streets—essentially juvenile criminals—gathered around himself 3 thousand juvenile thieves, beggars, murderers, and gifted them new, happy life. None his students returned to criminal world and during great master's lifetime 86 students received government awards. While society considered homeless children and juvenile criminals defective, Makarenko believed no defective children exist, only defective adults and defective child treatment exists.
Why did I cite these two real cases? They brightly demonstrate our life, our joy, elevation, friendship is determined by environment, environment laws or game rules. Any large commercial, political, scientific organization is condemned acting as large jar with spiders. Real friendship cannot exist there. Ask any former minister, president, general director. These organizations always breed sycophancy, cunning, false "friendship." Hundreds of millions workers worldwide are condemned living in lies, emptiness, loneliness. Yet one can rise above this obsolete, stupid, rusty system and adopt most effective, most progressive, most morally and financially beneficial system uniting people.
The System of True Friendship: Justice and Brotherhood
This system's power was demonstrated by Genghis Khan. Illiterate Mongol united similar illiterate guys around himself and within 23 years they conquered entire world. This system's essence can be expressed one word: JUSTICE.
Genghis Khan—first among commanders and world rulers—honestly, like brother, divided spoils with partners. After he proclaimed: "One third spoils I give soldier, third—to commander, third—send to Genghis Khan," his small army transformed into enormous force and they conquered world.
